Sire: One of the first Hanoverians imported to Canada,
ABRUPT was a son of the line-founding Trakehner stallion ABGLANZ, whose
impact on Warmblood breeding in Germany and throughout Europe is immeasurable.
ABRUPT, imported to Canada in 1967 by Joe Selinger, produced several
very successful open and grand prix jumpers, including ARABELLA and JACK
A DANDY, as well as a Canadian Team short listed Three Day Event horse,
TOUCHDOWN. His legacy continued
through his daughters, so that ABRUPT appears in the pedigrees of numerous
current competitive horses like SOUTHWIND, PICASSO, AZAR and many others.
ABRUPT was a striking looking chestnut with the famous sheen or
“glanz” and an absolutely impeccable disposition. Dam: BLACK BIRD was a medium sized grade mare with
good substance. She produced two
daughters, AMSEL and AERONAUT, by ABRUPT, both of which have become successful
broodmares. AMSEL is the grand
dam of CWHBA 2002 High Point Dressage Horse BARBAROSSA. Notes: AERONAUT is a substantial mare with a tremendous
record as a brood mare. A daughter
of ABRUPT, she has passed on excellent disposition and powerful athletic
ability to her ten offspring. She
is a heavy milk producer and an excellent mother. Her offspring are tall, up to 17 hands, with
good gaits and excellent jumping ability.
Her last three foals by BEAU SOLEIL are her best; combining substance
and elegance with good conformation.
Two of the three have placed well in the CWHBA foal futurities. Her two BEAU SOLEIL daughters will be retained
in the brood mare herd to replace her. She is sold bred back to BEAU SOLEIL with a live foal guarantee. |
