Colleen Embree-Jay was born in Ontario and currently resides in Sunderland. She has always been interested in horses and bought her first when she was 17. She took a break from riding during her time at the University of Toronto, but took it up seriously again when she graduated. Colleen moved to Caledon and lived where Canada's Three-Day Event Team was stationed, affording her a great opportunity to learn and make contacts. In 1973, Colleen broke her back in a riding accident, prompting a move back to the city. She lived in New York, Toronto, and Los Angeles and had a successful career in modeling and acting.
In 1987, Colleen came home to Ontario and the farm life, dedicating herself to her love of horses. She runs a stallion collection facility, Canajun Breeders, where she stands her three stallions ELUTE, LOVER'S CROSS and WELLINGTON II. She also offers services to outside stallions, last year she had 9 on the roster. Colleen has been working with stallions since 1990, running a breeding farm with a partner for seven years before deciding to continue with the stallions only. She rides dressage but has no time to show, nor, she says, does she need the stress.
Colleen is well traveled and spent many years immersed in educating herself about horses, bloodlines, and breeding. She traveled to Vermont, Massachusetts, Florida, Arizona, California, Washington, points between, and all over Canada looking at horses, meeting breeders and learning from stallion owners. She also completed a course in AI at Colorado State University prior to starting her Stallion Station. Colleen has also taken many weekend courses at the Equine Research Center at Guelph University. This past year she did Publicity for the Jumper Development Series and worked with the announcers at the shows, presenting breeding information. Colleen is the President of Ontario Chapter of the CWHBA and a member of the Stud Book Committee.
Her eye for a good horse and her knowledge of bloodlines will be invaluable to the buyer at the Fall Classic Breeders' Sale. We welcome her to the team.Announcer
We welcome Steve Dalgleish back to the Fall Classic for his sixth year. Steve says the show and sale have introduced him to many wonderful people and beautiful Warmblood horses, and he is proud to say each and every year he learns a little more.
Steve has always been interested in horses and in announcing. With each year his resume grows, including horse shows (Westerner Spring Show, Didsbury Light Horse, Olds/District Light Horse, Cochrane Horse show, and more...), cattle shows and many rodeos. Steve's accomplishments in pursuit of his goals as a Professional Show Announcer have been significant, with 2003 marking his debut as Special Features Announcer in the International Ring, plus many shows at the back rings and Meadows on the Green at Spruce Meadows. Steve honors and credits his close friend and mentor, Bill Kehler, who has taught him well.
Steve hopes all, buyers and sellers, enjoy the 2003 Fall Classic Breeders' Sale. We are pleased to have him join us again this year and we are sure he will add to your enjoyment of the Sale.
