Auction Veterinarian - Dr. Michael Wilson

Dr. Michael Wilson, B.V.Sc., M R C V S, joined Pioneer Veterinary Services in Sundre, Alberta as their Equine Practitioner. He obtained his Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1981 at Onderstepoort, the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Pretoria, South Africa. While employed with the South African Medical Services (National Service in SA Defence Force), he attended to the Horses of the Military Academy (Saldanha) and Equine Center at Glencairn (Simonstown). He also attended to the riding horses of the State President. He was the Vet in charge at the President's Cup Show Jumping event in Cape Town in 1982. In 1983, Dr. Wilson began his private practice in Bredasdorp (180 km's from Cape Town, South Africa) where he attended to a mixed group of special interest horses and began working with Equine Insemination. He was involved with the Endurance Society and vetted the horses of the National Team competing in Dubai in 1998. Dr. Wilson registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the United Kingdom in 1998. In Alberta he has been involved with both Endurance and Competitive Trail Ride vetting since 2000.
Dr. Wilson's international experience, working with both performance horses and breeding horses, makes him uniquely qualified as our Sale Vet. We are pleased to have him on the team.
