Sire: WIDUKIND was a registered Hannoverian stallion
bred in Germany and imported to Canada as a yearling. At the 1993 CSHA inspection, he received outstanding
marks for conformation, temperament and movement. A severe injury as a yearling limited his career
as a riding horse, but had little impact on his development as one of
the premier breeding stallions in the area.
His sire, WERTHER was 1992 Hannoverian Stallion of the Year, and
has produced many international jumping and dressage horses, such as WILLY
THE GREAT - USA Grand Prix Dressage Champion - and WESTERLAND, both ridden
by Hilda Gurney. He also sired
WERRA - International Jumper ridden by Nick Skelton.
WIDUKIND's dam comes from one of the best mare families in German
warmblood breeding (state stud WENDELIN, jumping horses WELL DONE, WINGST,
WIM and WAIKIKI). Dam: SHADOW CREEK is by CHAPEL CREEK, black type
placed winner of 4 races and sire of numerous winners. Her dam is BOUNTY'S SHADOW by GALLANT LAD.
Her dam recorded 7 wins aged 2 to 4.
SHADOW CREEK herself, due to a leg injury, has been used solely
as a broodmare. She was inspected
with the CWBHA as a 12 year old and received high scores for her neck
and head. SHADOW is a very attractive
and proud mare, and consistently passes this on to all her foals. Notes: WIND RIVER, aka RIVA, is a very attractive
2 year old filly. She is one of
WIDUKIND's last foals. RIVA has
her nominations paid up in the Canadian Young Horse Performance Futurity
program. She should mature to
about 16 hands and with her bright
bay coloring and her overall look she has lots of show ring appeal. She loves attention, but also likes to go to
work, so should make someone an awesome partner.
